Entrepreneur of the Day: Mary Page Nance

Today’s Entrepreneur of the Day is Mary Page Nance! Mary Page is the founder of both Monocle Productions and a page of mary.

New York City’s Mary Page Nance is a modern-day Renaissance woman. A Broadway performer, producer, entrepreneur, and craftswoman, Mary Page is not only reshaping what custom event entertainment can look like through her company Monocle Productions, but she’s also preserving the past with her vintage-inspired stationery brand, a page of mary.

Whether she’s singing at The White House, performing at The Met Gala, or crafting bespoke journals by hand, Mary Page brings her signature passion and precision to everything she touches. And in true Broadway fashion, she’s turning dreams into unforgettable realities, one act at a time.

Mary Page first took the New York stage by storm in the original companies of Finding Neverland, Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812, A Beautiful Noise, and most recently, Lempicka. Inspiration struck while rehearsing for Lempicka, which features references to the iconic 1930s Parisian nightclub Le Monocle. Le Monocle symbolized a radical kind of self-expression and inclusion; wearing a monocle was your ticket into this avant-garde world of performance and liberation. For Mary Page, it was the perfect metaphor.

She launched Monocle Productions as New York City’s first fully custom event production company, where every performance is conceived as a one-of-a-kind experience, filtered through the lens of her client’s dreams. The result is entertainment that is not only spectacular, but deeply personal.

Monocle Productions quickly gained a reputation for turning the unimaginable into reality. Whether it’s a flash mob in Times Square to celebrate a major IPO, a Broadway star reimagining a 2 Chainz song for a luxury party, or a surprise serenade to mark a couple’s anniversary, Mary Page and her team bring unparalleled theatricality and polish to private events. Her productions have lit up Rockefeller Center, elevated intimate gatherings in The Hamptons, and become the secret ingredient behind unforgettable corporate celebrations.

What sets Monocle apart is its unwavering commitment to customization. There’s a reason the word “custom” appears 18 times on their website. That’s not an accident. This level of bespoke performance is unheard of, and it’s what they do best. Every detail is crafted with precision, ensuring that each show is not only beyond your wildest dreams but exactly what you needed.

While her work with Monocle has redefined live event production, another unexpected passion took center stage during the pandemic. With Broadway dark, Mary Page returned to her childhood obsession: paper. The result was the launch of a page of mary, her handmade stationery brand rooted in sustainability and storytelling.

A self-described “Covid crafter,” Mary Page began binding journals by hand using vintage and recycled materials. What started as a personal project quickly blossomed into a full-fledged business, one that allows her to repurpose well-loved books, rescued from antique shops and friends’ garages, into beautiful, one-of-a-kind creations.

Each piece from a page of mary is crafted with eco-conscious care. She uses sustainable paper from companies like French Paper Co., recycles her own scraps for packaging, and ships orders in environmentally friendly mailers from EcoEnclose. More than just journals, these items are time capsules, offering their owners a chance to write their own stories in objects that already have one.

Mary Page says, “It runs in my blood to adore (and hoard) old things. Getting a page of mary is like taking a page from my book.” As a child, she was fascinated with how books were made. Years later, that same curiosity has found a new outlet, one that feels both intimate and impactful. Her journals are available online at apageofmary.com and in person at New York’s iconic Drama Book Shop.

When asked what advice she had for women who want to start their own business, Mary Page said, “Do it! Just do it. You will never feel ready, you just have to jump off the cliff and trust that you will figure it out. There is no feeling quite like taking matters into your own hands and giving yourself agency over your life. Trust me, it is worth it!”

Mary Page is more than a Broadway star—she’s a creative visionary reshaping the way we celebrate, connect, and create. From dazzling center stage to quiet moments with pen and paper, she reminds us that the most meaningful art comes from a place of authenticity, intention, and joy.
