She lived the dream of many theatre kids, touring the world as a lead production singer aboard cruise ships, wowing audiences night after night. But behind the glitz of showbiz, Emily began to feel the weight of waiting: waiting in holding rooms, waiting for callbacks, waiting for permission to be enough.

In that pause, something shifted. The applause was no longer enough to quiet the question echoing inside: What if there’s more to life than this? Bit by bit, Emily began following her creativity off-stage. What started as a few side hobbies soon grew into a full-blown vision, a space where she could pour her artistry into something tangible, wearable, and deeply personal. When asked what advice she had for women who want to start their own business, Emily said, “I don’t know much! I’m new here too! But I think the biggest resource we can ask from others is support, especially from other women, because we are a force when we do. It’s not a competition. Those narratives hold us down so that we don’t see how powerful we are when we lift each other. So hold each other up, especially in times of transition. For me, the hardest part of pivoting and trying something new has been that sticky time in-between. When everything feels wrong. When we don’t know what to do but something is brewing. Having a support system there for all the spaghetti being thrown at the wall, telling me to keep throwing, has been essential.”

Emily Martinez is still that theatre nerd at heart — vivacious, vibrant, and wildly talented — but now she’s designing her own stage. One made of fabric and film, upcycled denim and dreamy edits, laughter and light. She’s redefining what it means to “make it” in the arts, not by chasing someone else’s dream, but by making her own.
