Entrepreneur of The Day: Erin Neary

Today we are celebrating Erin Neary as our Entrepreneur of the Day! Erin is the co-founder of Book Club Bar in New York City.

Erin Neary’s journey into entrepreneurship began with a strong academic background. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marquette University, where she majored in English Literature and French Language studies. Following this, Erin earned a Master of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in Nonprofit Management & Leadership.

In 2011, Erin moved to New York City, where she worked in nonprofit development and later in marketing for tech start-ups. However, her career path took a shift when she decided to follow her passion for books and hospitality. In 2019, Erin, along with her husband Nat Esten, founded Book Club Bar in the East Village of New York City—a space combining Erin’s love for literature, community, and hospitality.

Book Club Bar quickly became a beloved gathering spot for book lovers and locals alike, offering a unique space where people could share in their love for books and enjoy great drinks in a warm, welcoming environment. The bar reflects Erin’s belief in creating spaces that bring people together through shared experiences.

When asked if she had any advice for women who wanted to start their own business, Erin said, “There is something both thrilling and terrifying about building your own livelihood from the ground up! If you find something you are passionate about, the leap into entrepreneurship is worth it.”

The success of Book Club Bar in the East Village has laid the groundwork for future expansion, with a second location set to open in Brooklyn in late 2025.

Through her dedication to her vision and love for both books and community, Erin Neary continues to grow Book Club Bar into a space that not only celebrates literature but fosters connections among people in New York City.
